I love the Fandango iPhone app!

For the last few hours I’ve been reading up on the latest news from Comic-con (once again I didn’t get my passes for that, next year, as I say every year ). I’ve also been looking up any info on the movie that I could find.

I love midnight premiers! I get to go uber-geek! My nephew suggested we leave extra early so we can get a chance to play the new Cap game. This local game shop always sets up a few PS3’s or Xbox’s with the movie game tie-ins. Luckily the new Cap game looks pretty good.

I’m pretty stoked for this movie. The latest trailer I saw for it highlighted the action and the positive reviews. One review called it “the best superhero movie of the summer.” Bold words after the greatness that was Thor.

Which reminds me, I haven’t seen most of the great films this summer. All I’ve seen were Thor and Green Lantern. Both of which I thought were great. Nobody but me and my family seemed to like Green Lantern. But that’s just because people didn’t get that it was a pretty faithful interpretation to the comics. Either that or it’s because we love mindless summer blockbusters.

Anywho, I’ll be tweeting updates to and after Cap and will post a review either on here or my old QuasiGeek blog. Or I may start a new blog I’ve been thinking about, Nerd 4.2.0. a pop culture blog for nerds with a little herbal influence.

Till next time True Believers.

Cruz A. Under Pressure!

Gotta get this wedding done! Gotta get this pilot done! Gotta get this contract signed! Gotta get Harmony’s homework done! Gotta get this film into production again! Gotta write this second draft! Gotta pay this bill! Gotta pay that bill! Gotta Gotta Gotta do more and more and more!!!

Never-fucking-ending!

I got a lot of shit I need to get done and it seems like the will to do it all is just getting farther and farther away! I’m not sure what it is that makes me so god damned lazy but fuck me if it isn’t just better to hit the couch and read. Don’t get me wrong, I know the problems this creates. I know I have to be responsible and get my work done. I can see all the details and consequences of my actions. But why in the hell is it so easy to throw all that knowledge out the window and dig my self deeper?

Another problem is the sudden realization that maybe I’m not being completely lazy. One thing that kills me is when I’m doing the work I’m supposed to be doing. I’m working my ass off and when I come up for air I realize that I’m still behind!

I have two weddings on my plate because I was lazy weeks before. MY fault. I re-double my effort. I get my ass out of bed and start working. But I loose an hour here because of this reason. And then I loose an hour there because of that reason. I’m working. I’m thinking. My mind jumps from one thought process for one project to another. I’m doing good but why am I still behind?

Now I gotta go coach t-ball. The couch just seems so comforting. And I got almost all my equipment. I have a new Canon Rebel EOS T2i for photography and video. I got my new Mac for editing! I gotta get my fictitious business name filled and published in the paper and then I am golden! Cruz’s Chop Shop is open for business baby!!!

I’m very stoked with the camera. I’ve only taken a dozen or so photos with it but they’re looking good. I haven’t tried the video yet, even though that’s the main reason I got the camera. That’s the plan for today. It's simple. I went back to my old style of film making with this one. This is all stuff from around my neighborhood. Half of the images are from the empty lot across the street from my house the rest are from right around the corner. This is what is see when I look around. I guess you could say it's how I see the world. I just walked around and filmed what ever caught my eye.

I shot all this (and more) in about an hour and a half. I edited it in the same day. It would have taken me much less time to edit it but I was using Adobe Elements on my laptop and it seems like it was at least 5-10 minutes for every cut. I took fooooreeeeevvvvvoooooorrrrrr!

But it's done and I'm pretty happy with it. The music is Nick Cave and Warren Ellis from The Assassination of Jesse James soundtrack. YouTube will probably pull my video soon so I'm also uploading it to Vimeo.

Enjoy!

Cruz A. I woke up at a decent hour. I ate a healthy breakfast of oatmeal spiced up with agave nectar, cinnamon, and bananas. I worked on my computer. Had a good conversation with a friend. Did some work for my new business. And then I got up to make a light healthy lunch. That’s when my sister came home with Whoppers and chicken sandwiches from Burger King. I threw some hot sauce on that bad boy and attacked those fuckers like an addict on the jonze mainlining an eight ball of smack.

So much for my good work.

But that’s ok. Sure I didn’t go for a walk today either. Sure I forgot to call my business partner. Sure I failed to work on any screenwriting or short story writing. But I did get a good start today. And tomorrow I’ll get another good start and maybe I’ll make it last a little longer.

At least I managed to write this today also. I spent about 6 hours kicking ass in Metropolis and Gotham City. Criminal’s ran in fear. Aliens met their match. And my stomach got about an eight of an inch wider.

In other words I didn’t accomplish shit today.

Sure in some circles today was well spent. As a gamer reaching the level cap during beta testing of an awesome new game is quit the accomplishment. And though I’d love to count myself as a gamer. I just can’t help but feel guilty. Guilty for not doing something more constructive with my time. Guilty for not going for a walk (even though it rained all day). Guilty for not acting like an adult.

Boo Hoo!!

See this is what I go through everyday. Worrying about who I am and who I’m “supposed” to be is my modus operandi. I’m constantly fighting with myself. But luckily this isn’t a win or loose battle. I don’t know what it is but it sure is a pain in the ass.

And why am I telling you this shit, o’ faithful reader?

Because I can. Because you took the time to read this shit it means that I can tell you what ever the hell I want and these days I want to complain about a whole lot of nothin’!

Actually I figure that I could be dead in a year so might as well put some of this shit out there. Maybe some cool ass scientist in the far future will find this little bit of silliness and think, “Hm, our ancestors were a bunch of whinny pussies.”

Also I figure if I am alive next year this will be good record to show how far I’ve come. By this time next year I should be healthy and making money. This time next year I will be writing regularly. I’ll have a bunch of short films in the can. Some of them even entered into film festivals. I’ll have my first feature film written, maybe more then one. I’ll be getting ready to move into mine and Harmony’s new home. The company that Matt G and I are putting together will be booming. My shit will be together and I’ll be kicking ass. All be cause I wrote a blog entry last night and another one tonight. Because I’m going to write another one tomorrow and another the next day and so on. Because tomorrow I’ll also go for a walk, even if it rains. Because I’ve finally started to get shit done, and it feels pretty fucking good.

Cruz A. Just under one year from the day the world is supposed to end. Woo hoo! I’m hoping for a zombie holocaust myself.

But that’s if you believe in all that Mayan doom and gloom shit. I figure if its gonna end it’ll be then but really I doubt it. Besides I gotta a kid so I’m optimistic. And this isn’t an article about that shit anyway.

This shit is all about me. First off I’m one of those sorry assholes who looks at the new year as some sort of big bad excuse to make a change in their lives. One of them that thinks that because the calendar has changed it’s time to shed the pounds, time to be nicer, time to try harder, time to not be such a piece of shit.

This year (Hell, lets not forget every year since I was 18) I’ve packed on a few more pounds. I’ve done a whole lot of nothing towards my chosen career, filmmaking. I’ve made absolutely no good on my promises to my kid to get a place of our own. I’ve done fuck all to better myself and by extension, my daughter’s life.

Not for not trying though… sort of. I did get a job last summer. It was even sort of connected to my chosen career. It was editing wedding videos. Not too glamorous but it paid money. Not enough money to really do much. I spent most of my checks on gas just to drive the 100 miles a day to work and back.

But I was doing the best I could. That’s what I kept telling myself. That’s what I’ve always told myself. It’s never been true. I know I could do more. I know I could look for a better paying job. I could be making more money and have a place for my daughter and I. I could pay my bills and get off the food stamps.

I just don’t know how. Ok I know how but I’m probably afraid of something. What that is I don’t know. I just don’t know how to get a regular job and put on a regular smile and live an ordinary life. I’m a 29 year old loser. I’m fat and getting fatter. Right now I feel sorry for myself. Usually I don’t. But today I do. Most of the time I’m cool with who I am. I know that in just a little bit I’m going to start that script. I’m going to get that new music video gig. I’m going to go for that jog. I always feel like a jack ass when I don’t. But most of the time I don’t feel like I’m a piece of shit. Well, today I do. And the truth is every other day I do too. I just learned to lie to myself and pretend to be happy with who I am.

Well, I’m not. I’m not happy being a fat ass, semi-employed, single dad living with his mom, step-dad, sister, 2 nephews, niece, baby twins, uncle, and tinny dog named Sammy Davis Jr. I’m supposed to be a writer. I’m supposed to be a Director. I’m supposed to be a screenwriter. I’m supposed to be a musician. And most importantly I’m supposed to be a good provider for my child. And that’s my New Years resolution. Not to get thin, not to make an improvement, not to start a new diet or to be nicer but to stop bull shitting my self and admit that I’m not anything I want to be. No more bull shit. I’m a fucking loser and I’m not cool with that.

Happy New Year's Everyone!!!!!!

Cruz A. Actually my mom dosent even read my blog. But oh welled least I got one reader.

I wonder who it is and why thses people read blogs about the boring shit in other peoples lives? I mean I do that . But I'm a wierdo. I'm usually hoping to glean some bit of information that might lead to a story idea or some kind of inspertation. Also I'm usually hoping I can see some boobs or find a chick that will take in a lonely loser like me.

But what about other people? Why do they read peoples blogs? Most of the time they're short meaningless blurbs of drivel. I got this one blog I unused to read by a dude in the comic book biz. His blog mostly consisted of notes about what kind of new tacos he's had lately. That is some seriously boring shit! But I love comics and I love tacos so I read it. But who the fuck else would read that? And why would the guy think that anyone would? I guess he had the same thought I had, "I'm way cooler than other taco loving comic book geeks out there and I think people should hear what I got to say cause I'm cool and a have a huge cock." ok maybe I went a little too far there, but you get the point. We're all a little narcissitic some times. We have to be in order to think that anyone would want to read what we have to say. It's a required trait in all artists, whether your a painter, a writer, a filmmaker, or a porn star. At some point we've all thought hey I'm so great I just have to share me with everyone!

I can't really remember where I was going with this cause I started writing this yesterday and I have the retention of a gerbil but I'll just leave you with this. I suck so if your reading this than you must suck too. Thank you and goodnight.

Cruz A. I’ve been using the online name ZomboGombo for various social networking such as Twitter. I was thinking about changing the name to ZomboGombo and possibly adding a subtitle like, “Confessions of a zombified Cajun Food Lover” or “Movie Reviews, Film News, and a bunch of other stuff that won’t be read by anyone but my Mom.” I think the second one sounds good.

Though I’m not sure if I should just turn ZomboGombo into a completely separate blog. I could turn ZomboGombo into a character and give him a fictional blog. Well i guess I just mean me or Jacob since we’re probably the only ones reading this shit! I’m pretty lazy so that’s one reason I haven’t been blogging. Another is that I’ve been in school, got a new job and a Playstation 3 and a Plasma TV. All great excuses to avoid the responsibilities of a writer.

But now I have a new toy! And what better excuse to play with it every minute of the day than to say I’m “working?” I love it! But I wonder why it takes spending a butt load of cash on a new notebook (my first one by the way) to get me excited about doing something I love. Maybe excited is the wrong word. I’m always excited to write perhaps motivated is a better word.

What’s that say about writers in general? Do we all sometimes need shinny bobbles to entice us to pursue our craft? Or am I just lazy? Maybe, but having the proper tools for the job is important too. Though one could argue that all a writer really needs is paper and pen. But now a days that seems a little backwards. Even though I still love the old pencil and 3x5 cards they don’t quite work for blogging. It just seems weird to not put my blog work in a digital format. Besides if i wrote it out in pen or pencil first it would never find it’s way into the computer.

Being able to work on my blog anywhere is a huge advantage. I’m sort of neurotic and having a set schedule for writing is not an option. Having a note book ensures that when I get an idea I can put it down somewhere and then I can post it at the push of a button later.

So two thumbs up for notebooks!

I plan to write on her regularly again. I just found Windows Live Writer! I’m also focusing this blogs content more on the personal side. I’m a pretty egotistical guy so I figure I make a good subject to write about. Who wouldn’t want to know what’s going on with me? If I found a blog like this I would totally read it. And so must you if you’ve made it this far!

Thanks for reading Mom!

Love,

-Cruz

Cruz A. People are reading my blog everyday and I haven’t even posted a new entry in over a month. Hell, probably a few months. If your wondering what the hell I’ve been up too the short answer is: looking for work. Blogging is fun. I would like to make it a career (well, writing in general) but it don’t pay the bills. But luckily karma has been on my side and I can now say I have begun my second week at a video production company in Stockton! Now I can buy all the new Star Trek merch!

Cruz A. These are blogs written by dad for dads. I guess they are getting more and more popular these days. Up till recently it has been all about the Mom Blogs.

I had the idea to start a web site dedicated to dads and parenting from the single dad's perspective ever since my daughter came to live with me. I never got it going but now it looks like the time. The only problem I see with starting one is that I'm already working on two blogs and as you all know I'm not very good at it. But I am a good dad, for the most part, and I think I would have a hell of a lot to say about that. When I'm not blogging or on line or acting I'm being a dad. I'm a dad first and I add on all this other stuff.

So I'm pretty sure I'm going to do a Dad Blog. Now do I just start blogging about dad stuff here, or do I start a new blog dedicated to all things dad? If I do start another blog I have a few ideas for names:

Beer Gut Daddy

Point Blank Dad

Dad On Toilet

I'm partial to Point Blank Dad, because the blog would be from my perspective and I would talk about all the things that dudes talk about when there with other dudes, like how much it sucks to get shit stuck in your nails when your changing a diaper, and how it sucks that you don't get to jerk off as much because the kid keeps knocking on the bathroom door!

So tell me what you think. Leave a comment down below.

Cruz A. The goal is to get people break down the barriers, to smash the stigmas and to enlighten people as to what epilepsy really is. The site aims to do this by growing a community of people who can express their thoughts and knowledge of epilepsy through stories, videos, songs, even poetry.

In a audio blog on the site (which I became a member of today) Greg stated that he firmly believes that a cure will be found, that his own son, Jake (who suffers from epilepsy) will not have to spend a majority of his life with epilepsy. And he’s right.

Epilepsy has touched many peoples lives, my self included. My nephews and nice, who are like my own children, lost their “other favorite uncle”, Jason, to epilepsy a few years ago. He was a great guy, someone I looked up to. He was one of the great geeks in the world. I strive to fulfill the geekdom gap that he left in my nephew’s and niece’s lives. He had a seizure in his sleep and died. I miss him and am upset that he is missing out on so many cool things, like the new Star Trek. I’m sure we would have been at the midnight showing together when it comes out. He would have loved Heroes, too.

Please check out the site, send a link to your friends, and join the conversation. Please, talk about it!

There are several links through out this article but if you cant find them then click here: www.talkaboutit.org

Cruz A. It was a fairly short day. We started at about 9 in the morning, the equipment needed to be back by 10 and we finished at about 11. Oops.

We were shooting a scene where my character is having a nice day at the park with his new girlfriend when his best friend, Heath, shows up in a rage. Heath just found out that we're dating the same girl. He's there to kick my ass.

Now, I've never shot a fight scene before and was a little worried about getting hit. Not because I was afraid to get hurt, but because I was afraid I might loose my temper and beat the shit out of my co-star. I'm a short guy but when I get mad I can get a little out of hand.

Lukily there wasn't much to worry about. The "punches" were faked and the only real physical stuff was when Heath picks me up and throws me against a tree. Ed, the guy who plays Heath asked me if I was comfortable with him really throwing me. I, wanting to make sure the fight scene looked as real as possible told him: "Hell yeah man! Toss me against that fucker!" Oops.

Now, when your shooting something like this you need to remember one very important rule:

REMEMBER YOUR FUCKING LINES!

In my defence I had my lines earlier that day. But as soon as I started to get tossed against that tree (and that fucker was throwing me HARD), my natural instinct to fight back kicked in. I wanted to fuck this guy up! Lines? What fucking lines? I didn't care about my lines all I could do was try not to kick Ed's ass. We must have done twenty takes. Finaly I just winged the lines and we called it quits. But I learned my lesson that day, make sure you can say your lines instinctively because sometimes when your in the middle of a scene and the shit hits the fan all you can do is rely on your instincts or learn to fight against them with all you've got.

Cruz A. Bad business. But I have had good reason. I'm a natural born jack ass. To prove the point let me tell you a little story.

Now understand I am telling you this story at great risk to my personal reputation and my dignity. Ok, I don't really have any dignity, but I would hope that this story would be looked at as a lesson in not over drinking.

I have been absent from my blogs for the most part since the Saturday before St. Patty's Day. That night I got together with some friends and was planing to attend a St. Patty's Day party at the local pub. The night started out pretty good. We had a few beers at my buds apartment before heading out to the pub. We get there and there's no one there. The party wasn't going to start until 9:00 that night. It was 6pm.

So we decide to go get a few more beers from the store (much cheaper that way) and go back to the apartment and watch Still Waiting. We get our beers and back to the apartment and that's about where my memory fails me. Only brief flashes remain.

Apparently at some point one of my friends (the one that made the mistake of buying the bottle of Brandy, there's a reason I only drink beer now days) and I decide to go outside to have a smoke (I know another bad habit, I'm full of 'em). I guess I insisted that we go to the bar and see if things were popn'. I guess it was. I know I only had enough money for a few beers, but I later found out that we stayed at the bar until sometime after 1 in the morning. I remember brief flashes of being at the bar. My buddy tried to get me to sing When Doves Cry on karaoke. I remember telling the DJ that there was no way in hell I was going to sing that and asked to sing something else but I don't remember what.

Other then brief flashes that's about the most of what I remember. Apparently we stumbled back to the apartment and banged on the door until they let us in. I guess early the next morning when my buddy, the one who lived in the apartment, got up for work he heard me get up. Then he heard the sound of liquid trickling on his bed. I was pissing on his bed! I think it was on the side that his girlfriend was sleeping on! He jumped up and pushed me and I just began to talk unintelligibly. I went into his bath room a pissed all over that too. They made my drunk ass clean all that shit up and kicked me out of their apartment.

I woke up the next morning in my own bed knowing I had seriously fucked up. When my mom (yes, I'm living with my folks again, that's another long story) asked me who's blankets were in the washer I remembered a just enough to know I had pissed all over my buddies apartment.

So now that you know one of my deep dark secrets you should be able to live with out a post from me from time to time. After that night I have decided to cut down on my drinking. I'll have a few beers when I'm watching Battlestar Galactica or my other shows but no more binge drinking. I don't do it often anymore any ways but I don't like the shame and guilt from getting drunk. Because when I get drunk, I get drunk! Just remember if you drink, drink responsibly... and don't piss on your friends girlfriend.

Cruz A. I've been a member of a website called IndieGoGo for a while now. I haven't done much with it though. Until now.

Tonight I started my first project on the site. IndieGoGo is an online community designed for independent film makers to collaborate and communicate with one another. And most importantly to fund raise and promote their film projects.

You can build a profile page much like any other social networking site. You can upload videos. You can share your websites and all the usual stuff. But you can also start a project page. There you can let people know about an up coming film project. You can start a team of people to help you promote and work on your projects. The best thing is that you can use the project profile to raise money for your project.

Some people, ones who probably worked the shit out of the system, have raised up to a million buck-a-roon's for their films. Members films have shown at Sundance and other festivals. The site seems to work, if you put the work into it.

So I've had a passion project that I conceived of a few years ago while I was still taking classes at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I made a short doc for a film class. The doc was short and basically had me posing the question: Doe's this small town (Newman, Ca) need an after school film program? Lately the project has been itching to get out of me so I started a project profile on IndieGoGo. I havent put up the fundrasing stuff yet, because I have to do some shit with my bank account or something, but it should be up soon. You can still check out the project and join the community to get updates on when the fundrasing page is up and get news about how the project is coming along.

To check out the AfterSchool project click here.

Cruz A. I've been busy with the film I'm starring in. Thursday I had a rehearsal session that lasted for over four hours. That's a looong rehearsal session. But truth be told the films director and I were mostly just goofing off with my costar and her sister. It was quit fun. We cleaned up some dialog that was giving us grief and my costar, who is my characters romantic interest, got a chance to get comfortable with each other.

Today we shot most of the scene we rehearsed. The scene was were I meet Jenny, the romantic interest I mentioned earlier, for the first time at a Jr. college library. The problem with shooting there is that we had to be out by 5 o'clock. We got our entrances but didn't get to any of the dialog because we ran out of time. So we'll be shooting at the library again on some other day. Joy!!! Really, I can't wait for this scene to be over. But that's independent movie making.

After we left the library they shot a scene that I'm not in. It's were Kelly, the girl who plays Jenny, meets her other love interest (Kelly plays dual roles, Jenny my love interest and Penny my character's best friends love interest. Jenny/Penny has an identity disorder). I hung out while they shot the scene. It was kind of weird watching my "girl" getting hit on by my "best friend". While we were shooting campus security stopped by to find out what we were doing. Our director walked up to him and put the smack down. Not really but it did make us feel like true guerrilla film makers!

So now that you know why I've been absent for a few days I'll try to make sure I at least put up a little message on here to let you know whats going on with your favorite nut case!

Here are some exclusive behind the scene photo's I took during the out side shoot:

Kelly giving us a cheeser.

Kelly and Ed (my "best friend" Heath) shooting their scene.

Caleb (Mr. Director) going to put the smack down on campus security.

Caleb post smack down strut - Campus security walking away in shame!

Cruz A. I have created a new blog I'm calling QuasiGeek. This new blog is where I'm going to post all my stuff about Movies, tv shows, comics, video games, sci-fi, tech, etc.

I'm calling it QuasiGeek because though I totally dig all things geek, I really don't know all that much about this stuff. Rather than let my geek flag fly when I was younger, I hid my geekdom behind a facade of Heavy Metal Madness. So now I am deficient in the knowledge that would give me full geek status. I am not full geek, I am QuasiGeek.

I'll be reposting most things from QuasiGeek here on Brain Vomit. I'll be concentrating Brain Vomit on things that I figure people who are looking for movie or comic news aren't interested in reading about, namely me. This is were I'll talk about my film projects, my acting gigs, my blog adventures, and masturbation.

Now that the QuasiGeek is here its time for the Brain Vomit to flow!

Cruz A. I was REALLY disappointed with the Superman: Doomsday DVD but this one was pretty good. I got the movie for my four year old daughter and she really liked it. We got our copy from Best Buy so she got a free Wonder Woman action figure to go along with the movie. She's laying in bed sleeping with it right now.

As far as the animation goes I think they did a great job. Once again, much better than Doomsday. And I was pleasantly surprised that Nathan Fillion from Firefly/Serenity fame did voice work for the movie. I really liked the story, not really knowing much about the Wonder Woman origins or Greek mythology I think the writers did a great job. As the father of a little girl I was real happy with how they portrayed most of the women as strong and independent. I've always tried to teach my daughter that women are just as good if not better than men and that they can do whatever they set thier minds to. This movie really reinforced those ideas.

And from the Geeks point of view animated Wonder Woman makes me squirt!!!!! I watched a crappy quality version last night because I just couldn't wait until midnight when it went up on Apple Trailers.

This is the best one so far. It gives us a little more insight into Kirk's journey to The Chair. It also shows us a little more of Nero and how driven he is. All in all it kicks ass! But don't get your hopes up just yet. They're waiting for devices like XBox 360's, LG Blu-Ray players and Roku boxes to get into more homes so that the service will be more profitable.

To bad I know a lot of folks that would get that service right now. The Depp plays Dillinger as a smooth bad ass.

It looks like Michal Mann is still shooting digital. The day shots and interiors look real good. Looks like it was shot on film. The night time exteriors though, have that digital feel like on Collateral. But I personally like that look, especial here in a "period" piece. It gives is a real life look as if we're seeing what the world really looked like in the 30's (or whatever decade this all took place; I'm bad with history).

Check out the trailer at Geeks of Doom.

Posted using ShareThis

Cruz A. It was definatly a Sawyer episode. We get to see what happens to our favorite time travelers during the three years the 6 were off the island growing beards and going crazy.
The episode jumps back and forth between "Three Years Later" and "Three Years Earlier" which I think is fun. I like how the show is taking the flash back aspect that was so prevelent in the first few seasons and messing with it as they see fit.
This seems like a great show to write for. I'm disapointed that the show is ending after next season because I have been telling everyone in my family (the whole family sits and watches the show three generations worth of us; it takes the place of family dinners at the table) that as soon as I make it I'm going to write for this show. I better get working because times running out.

Cruz A. Everyone is talking about it. EVERYONE! And for good reason. He kicked fucking ass.

He was creepy. He was sadistic. He was funny. Scary. Brilliant. In the end however, I feel a little cheated. Not by the movie or the performance. Only by fate. We have this amazing movie and performance by Ledger. And now we're left *hanging by our foot*. No more Heath. No more Joker. The character could easily come back, but I would be hard pressed to find any fan willing to accept a replacement for Ledger. The nuance's of his performance were so unique that no one could replace him. It would be a disservice to his work.

But all that aside, this was a BIG movie. At 2 1/2 hours it doesn't disappoint. Nolan takes us on such an intense and emotional journey. The story is a sprawling entity that pulsates with the insanity and chaos of the Joker. But the true heart of the story is Harvey Dent. This is a story of hope and its fragility. It asks the question what should a man give up to give the world hope. The Joker shows us that our heroes can be two faced.

I won't go on any longer. There are far too many people out there talking about this for anyone to really need my opinion. Go see the movie. You'll see what I mean.

Cruz A. And the best part is I come up with some fantastic excuses about why it's ok. Well, it's good research. I'm seeing where the industry is at. I'm building a subconscious library of stories.

I guess there's nothing wrong with wanting to see what's going on in the world of movies, sci-fi and comics but when it starts affecting your livelihood you've got a problem. Though I've always been lazy so it could also just be an excuse to achieve as little as possible. You know like being a dad. Ouch, wait that sounded bad. Being a dad's great. I just meant that being one lets you be a big kid.

I mean why the fuck do we have to become adults. What is an adult. It's a word. I may be older but I'll never be an adult. Who wants to. Like responsible. I can't remember who said this but someone made the point that if you look at the word it really refers to one ability to respond to a given situation. In that sense everyone is responsible. I'm just saying, yeah I spend too much time fucking around on the internet and watching TV and movies and reading books and not enough time actually working. But I need to release my mind into these different worlds otherwise I feel the burden of adulthood calling. And if I allow myself to grow up I'll loose that precious commodity of the artist, childhood wonder.

So fuck growing up. I'm staying a kid, or as my daughter calls me a Big Kid, and I'll use that to make my way in a world that needs some good old fashioned childhood wonderment.

Cruz A. When you can see and feel the life you will be in and should be in and the one that you in now, trapped so far and long apart?

I feel like I live my whole life constantly in those moments. Trapped here but mentally connected to and attempting to shape what is to come.

What if I really do exist in both places?

It is possible that through some as yet to be fleshed out universal principle we can and are all connected to all points of our existence. And we can consciously move through all points.

What if all we have to do is be conscious of this reality at all points in our timeline and the connection is complete and we can then move freely throughout our existence. Maybe we could simply leave a message to ourselves that will recur throughout our whole life to complete the connection?

Or maybe I should get back on my med's!

Cruz A. I've thought about doing one of these for a while but have been to lazy. Gee, I wonder how many millions of blogs have started out just like this.

See, that's exactly why I have been hard pressed to start one. Everybody has got an opinion out there these days. And frankly I think most of them are full of shit. Hopeless computer geeks who sit at their desk in dark rooms lit only by the light of their monitors yelling at their mom to bring them some Mountain Dew and a Hot Pocket, switching between one screen to another where they're typing their latest opinion of the new Marvel movie, one screen downloading the next Marvel movie that hits theaters next month, and one screen with the latest celebrity porn video playing, which by the way, is the real reason why they are wearing nothing but sticky boxers and the cape that came with The Greatest American Hero Complete Series Box Set.

What's different about me you ask? What should set me apart from these sorry yet apparently future evolutionary models of the species?

Not much.

I'm hoping the price will go down on the GAH box set so I can get my cape. And I don't like Hot Pockets.

So what can you expect from this shit? A little bit of everything. I have a high horse and I'm gonna ride that son of bitch straight up your ass wearing curiously stained underwear, my cape waving in the wind, and the millionth opinion about how cool it was hearing "HULK SMASH!!" or how I think this presidential election is actually being written by Hollywood screen writers, or maybe I'll scream insanities about what the fuck is "really" going on!

No matter what I'm sure to offend and maybe, just maybe, I might occasionally have a few brief moments of constructive insight about a world that is quickly becoming a strange and scary, yet potentially amazing and wondrous place, if given the chance.

----------------
Now playing: Philip Glass - Lhasa at Night
via FoxyTunes

Cruz A.
